Congratulations to our New Directors!

With great pride and excitement, we announce that Rachel Elson and Simon Bray have joined the hmh Director Group. Both these great people have been part of the hmh Team for many years and are well known to a large number of our clients.

Rachel Elson

Rachel is a qualified Chartered Accountant who has been with our combined firm for 23 years. She joined us in Doncaster in 2010 when CHN Nutbean and hmh joined forces. Rachel is an energetic and enthusiastic person by nature and is always up for a new challenge.

Highly organised, detail oriented and deadline focussed, Rachel is highly regarded by clients and colleagues. Strong technical skills and a good understanding of family businesses and their dynamics ensure that Rachel delivers quality advice that is tailored to individual client circumstances.

Rachel has also been a strong contributor to the firm through involvement on various committees and working groups focussing on technical skills, internal efficiencies and training of younger members of the team.

Rachel and her husband Gareth have two teenage boys Brock and Cruz who keep them on the move and with whom they enjoy regular breaks at the family holiday house at Phillip Island.

Speaking about her appointment as a Director at hmh Rachel says “It will be a new challenge to be part of this group and to be a business owner – lots to get my head around, but I’m up for it!”

Congratulations Rachel.

Simon Bray

Simon joined hmh in 2014, following his qualification as a Chartered Accountant and several years’ experience with a city based firm, where he gained his investigative and analytical skills, as an auditor. Using these skills, Simon has been a very significant addition to the family business client base at hmh. With a naturally enquiring mind, Simon has a thirst for learning and constantly seeks ways to add to his skill set. And – he’s a spreadsheet king!

Speaking of his new role as a Director at hmh, Simon stated – “It’s time to really get to work for me now”. This is typical of Simon’s attitude and work ethic – he thrives on being super busy.

Whilst looking after the accounting and tax affairs of a number of our large family business groups, Simon is also a Registered Company Auditor and assists our MD Kristian Lunardello, in managing the firm’s audit assignments.

Simon has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of our business services and audit teams, regularly running technical update sessions and spending lots of one on one time with younger members of the crew, passing on his knowledge.

Simon and his wife Maddie have a one year old son Spencer. Outside of work, Simon loves cricket, is a mad Collingwood supporter (aren’t they all) and is very fond of the horse flesh and is a VRC member.

Congratulations Simon.
